Dr. Carlos Lopez is a board-certified radiation oncologist. His undergraduate training was in Biological Sciences at the University of California, Irvine, graduating magna cum laude. He earned his medical doctor degree from the New York University School of Medicine in 1999, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. He went on to complete a general surgery internship at the University of Chicago and then his radiation oncology residency at the University of Michigan in 2007, where he was selected to serve as chief resident. As part of his academic career, Dr. Lopez has presented at numerous professional conferences and is the author of many clinical and basic science publications that incorporate his research findings.
Dr. Lopez specializes in modern radiation oncology techniques, including intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT), stereotactic radiation therapy (SRT), radiosurgery (SRS), and brachytherapy. He is a member of the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO), the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), the American Brachytherapy Society (ABS), and the American Medical Association (AMA).
Dr. Lopez is skilled in the latest techniques and technologies of this rapidly advancing field and strives to deliver cutting-edge treatment along with compassionate medical care that is individualized to meet each patient’s specific needs.
